These last weeks have been weeks of European competitions. This always gives us the chance to conduct in-depth analysis. Analysis of a lot of situations generated and that we can extract to analyse and watch with our goalies, or just make us reflect as goalkeeping coaches on the goalkeeper “profile” we want.
If we analyse the situation thoroughly, the first thing on my mind is the large number of situations of this kind that are generated in the best competitions in the world.
TACTICAL THINKING SCHEME
THERE ARE SHOOTING CHANCES
Positioning in the goal at the proper distance with respect to the player with the ball.
Evaluate the space generated behind the centres, but this is NOT a priority, since the priority is the shot on goal chance.
THERE ARE NO SHOOTING CHANCES
Interpret the play options of the player with the ball and the situation of teammates and rivals. Depending on these, positioning more or less forward, by evaluating before a pass if anticipate-intercept, play a 1×1 or hold a shot or any other situation generated.
